Your Perfect Ski Holiday to Italy
Italy ski holidays are relaxed, informal and fun. Of course, the Italians take their skiing seriously, but then they take their lunches, dinners, aperitivi and digestivi just as seriously. Your ski holidays in Italy will always be as much about good food and drink as they are about skiing and snowboarding.
Many Italians who are not skiers or boarders enjoy coming to the mountains in winter for the sunshine, the scenery, and the après ski. Our Ski Expert Andy’s Favourite Resorts
Courmayeur
Easily accessible via Geneva or Turin, Courmayeur is a great resort for a long weekend ski trip. The food is exceptional both on and off the mountain, which makes skiing in Italy so special. The 3- or 4-day Courmayeur lift pass is great because it allows you to spend one day skiing in another Aosta Valley resort or using the Skyway cable car.
Madonna di Campiglio
This resort showcases Italy at its best. The setting amongst the spectacular Brenta Dolomites is hard to beat, and the resort strikes a perfect balance between sophisticated charm and family-friendly skiing. The extensive network of gentle blue and red runs makes it ideal for intermediates and families.
Cervinia
The skiing around Cervinia is perfect for intermediate skiers, with wide, confidence-boosting pistes and plenty of opportunities for relaxed cruising. The recent lift improvements have made it even easier to access the more challenging terrain on the Zermatt side of the mountain.
Snowboarding in Italy
Italy offers fantastic snowboarding across the Alps and the Dolomites. High-altitude, wide slopes and pockets of superb powder have made Italy an increasingly popular destination for snowboarders.
- Livigno offers some fantastic freestyle parks including the Mottolino Snowpark, considered one of Europe’s best
- In Cervinia, snowboarders can enjoy high-altitude glacier riding with long slopes and panoramic Matterhorn views
- Freeride snowboarders should head to Courmayeur where they’ll find some amazing off-piste and tree runs.
Activities in Italy
Experience the Italian mountains differently by discovering the excellent activities available. Whether you’re planning a ski holiday with your family, group or partner, Italy has a great range of non-skiing activities.
- The country is rich with exciting experiences, try your hand at dog sledding, tobogganing or even ice skating
- For a more relaxing activity in Italy, take a serene snowshoe walk around the area or truly unwind by visiting a tranquil wellness centre
- One of our favourite activities is ‘Sommelier on the Slopes’ in Alta Badia, a wine-tasting event on the mountains.
Après Ski in Italy
When it comes to après ski, Italy has a relatively sophisticated approach. Unlike its neighbours, France and Austria, the tipple at the end of the day is much quieter.
- Ütia Bioch in Alta Badia is a favourite spot for an Aperol Spritz with views of the Sella Massif and Marmolada mountains
- The Ymeletrob in Cervinia transforms from a relaxed cocktail bar into one of the resort’s liveliest locations
- Rifugio Emilio Comici in Val Gardena offers a sunny terrace and classic aperitivo culture beneath the Sassolungo mountain.
Try the bombardino! A famous warm alcoholic drink for après-ski.
