Davos, Switzerland

Davos is one of Switzerland’s largest resorts, with 251km of terrain and one of highest towns in the Alps. Jakobshorn mountain is one of the best places to snowboard in Davos. Avoriaz, France

Known as the snowboarding capital of Europe, Avoriaz was one of the first resorts to offer a snowboard only area. There are four snow parks in the resort, including Lil’Stash for beginners, and the more challenging snow park d’Arare. Known locally as the ‘Big Park’, the Arare snow park has a popular airbag jump for testing tricks safely, as well as a banked slalom course. Snow park, The Stash, was the first ecological snow park in Europe and is 100% natural. The concept was developed by snowboarder Jake Burton who brought it over from California to Avoriaz, viewing the resort as one of the best places to snowboard and only European resort capable of managing his ambitious project. Laax, Switzerland

Mayrhofen, Austria

One of the best snowboarding resorts in the world, Mayrhofen has been host to several major snowboarding competitions, including the British Snowboarding Championships. The Vans Penken snow park covers the sunny, south-facing side of Action Mountain Penken and has six distinct areas. Expert boarders can also tackle Austria’s steepest slope: the Harakiri black piste. At its steepest, it has a gradient of 85%, meaning it’s definitely not one for the faint-hearted. Beginners and intermediates should head to the Ahorn cable car for quieter, gentler pistes on the other side of the village.
